I‘m So Happy “With” You

When I shared my excitement about completing the recording for the Flesh & Flame audiobook, a friend responded with something so simple, yet so profound:

“I’m so happy with you.”

Not for you.
Not at you.
But with you.

That one little word shifted everything.

They weren’t showing sympathy, or distance. It wasn’t a detached “good for you.”
It was simple but profound resonance.

It was their way of saying: I feel the vibration of your joy, and I’m standing right beside you in it.

And the more I sat with it, the more I realized: this isn’t just about happiness.

• “I’m so sad with you.”

• “I’m so disappointed with you.”

• “I’m so excited with you.”

It’s a way of holding space that doesn’t co-opt someone else’s feelings or try to fix them.
It’s walking beside them, naming what they’ve shared, and reflecting it back so they feel truly seen.

I remember a time when I shared a shift in my life I was wildly excited about with a close friend. I poured my heart into telling her… and her response was a flat, “Cool.”

I felt the drop immediately. My joy was suddenly “mine alone.” Instead of resonance, there was distance. Instead of shared intimacy, there was silence.

That one word—cool—made me want to shrink my celebration.

And I realized how often I had done something similar to others. Nodding politely, offering a distracted “nice,” thinking I was acknowledging them.

Now I know better. To be with someone in their joy—or in their grief—is to step inside resonance. It’s what transforms sharing into intimacy.

What if we began practicing this—together?
Resonance.
Withness.

The next time someone shares their heart with you, try it: “I’m so ___ with you.”

And feel how the field of separation between you collapses. How intimacy deepens.

That’s the power of resonance.
