Pleasure Literacy: The Missing Skill in Spiritual Mastery
Most people think they understand pleasure.
They know what it feels like to enjoy a good meal, a warm embrace, a night of lovemaking, a moment of beauty.
But very few people are pleasure literate.
Pleasure is a language.
Your body is constantly speaking in the language of sensation—whispering, humming, pulsing messages about what brings you alive and what shuts you down.
Pleasure literacy is learning how to read that language.
It’s the skill of understanding, interpreting, and expanding your relationship to pleasure—physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and energetically.
A pleasure-literate person can feel deep joy or intensity without collapsing. They can distinguish between pleasure that numbs (which isn’t pleasure at all, but relief/escape) and pleasure that nourishes. They can let desire guide them without guilt, fear, or the need to control the outcome.
Pleasure literacy turns the body into a compass for truth, alignment, and creation.
When we’re pleasure illiterate, we misread the signals of our body:
We confuse safety for joy.
We chase intensity when what we need is nourishment.
We mistake the relief of suffering for ecstasy.
We call exhaustion “peace.”
And we build entire lives—even spiritual paths—around these distortions.
Pleasure literacy restores right relationship with the body. It teaches us to recognize that pleasure isn’t indulgence; it’s information. It’s the nervous system’s way of saying, “This is your path. Stay here.”
You don’t “earn” pleasure. You become available to it.
In my work as an erotic mystic and spiritual innovator, I teach that pleasure is a frequency—the original current of creation that animates everything. It’s the proof of life itself, the raw energy that generates energies like desire, magnetism, and expansion.
The more you can hold that frequency—without numbing or shrinking or self-sabotaging—the more you can receive life in all its forms: love, success, creativity, wealth.
That’s the secret.
The capacity to hold pleasure is the capacity to receive abundance.
Spiritual mastery isn’t about transcending the body; it’s about anchoring your divinity through the body.
Pleasure is the teacher that shows you how.
When you become fluent in the language of pleasure, you’re no longer chasing bliss—you’re embodying it. You stop needing life to perform for you and start creating reality from your own inner frequency of aliveness.
That is mastery.
That is sovereignty.
That is the real spiritual revolution.
Pleasure literacy is the foundation of everything I teach — from Forbidden Alchemy to the upcoming Pleasure Frequency Atelier I have planned for 2026.
It’s the missing skill that bridges sensuality and spirituality, or humanity and godhood.
When we restore pleasure to its rightful place—as sacred, intelligent, and sovereign—we remember who we really are: divine beings here to create, to feel, and to experience life turned all the way on.
Pleasure isn’t the reward. It’s the way.
Welcome to the Pleasure Renaissance.
In unabashed sovereign pleasure,
-Sharon Marie Scott
